Parenting with Awareness & Intention
Parent consultations aren't just about managing day-to-day challenges -- they are also opportunities to deepen insight into your own parenting style. Many parents unknowingly respond to their children through the lens of past experiences or unresolved emotional wounds. When this happens, it can be difficult to meet your child's present needs with clarity and calm.
As part of our work together, I help parents build awareness of these patterns and develop strategies to shift from reactive to intentional parenting. This process not only improves communication and reduces conflict but also allows space for healing and growth -- for both you and your child.
By learning how to respond to your child based on who they are, rather than from past pain or anxiety, you create a healthier, more connected relationship where your child can truly thrive -- and where parenting feels more meaningful and manageable.
Parent Consultations
Parenting can be deeply rewarding -- and incredibly complex. Whether you are facing specific challenges with your child or seeking guidance around family dynamics, parent consultations provide a space for thoughtful support, expert insight, and practical tools.
Drawing on over two decades of experience working with children and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, I offer consultations that are rooted in Family Systems Theory and informed by developmental, relational, and cross-cultural understanding. My clinical training in family systems began during my graduate studies at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, where I developed a strong foundation in working families as interconnected systems -- not just individuals in isolation.
My approach to parent consultations are collaborative and solution-focused. We explore what is happening in your child's world -- and yours -- so we can identify patterns, clarify goals, and find new ways to respond to challenges with greater confidence and connection.
I offer guidance on a range of concerns, including:
-
Behavior and emotional regulation
-
School or peer-related challenges
-
Co/Parenting differences
-
Challenges in blended families
-
Developmetal transitions (toddlerhood, adolescence, etc.)
-
Culturally-sensitive parenting support
-
Navigating boundaries, roles, and communication
For families whose children are also in individual therapy, consultations can complement your child's work by helping you better understand their needs and support them more effectively at home.
