Fezzik
Therapy Dog-in-Training
Fezzik is a 2-year old Whippet, a medium-sized dog breed that is part of the sighthound family. His cousins include the larger Greyhound and the smaller Italian Greyhound; all share graceful and slim physiques as well as a lightning quick instinct for pursuit. Whippets are quiet, loving, and sensitive dogs with a gentle disposition that can brighten the dullest of days.

Whipping Through Challenges Together
Just like other Whippets, Fezzik loves playing fetch and has a speedy gallop to chase his target. Between bursts of energy, he also enjoys cuddling and lounging with soft blankets during the day. Fezzik may be somewhat shy when first meeting you, and will be keen on easing in at his own pace. As you get to know him, you will find that he is affectionate and gentle with a sweet temperament. When not working at the office, Fezzik enjoys long hikes, taking long naps, and learning new tricks.
Starting in June 2024, Fezzik joined the private practice of Dr. Liwanpo as a Therapy Dog-in-Training. He has been working hard with rigorous training in basic and advanced courses to become a Certified Therapy Dog, and will occasionally be present for training in the office. You may even catch a glimpse of him during a telehealth session!
Fezzik has earned his Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Title Certificate from the American Kennel Club (AKC) with Dr. Liwanpo as his handler. He also passed a certifying test to be registered with Dr. Liwanpo as a Certified Therapy Dog/Handler Team through The Independent Therapy Dogs, Inc.
To maintain best practices at incorporating Fezzik into therapeutic work responsibly and effectively, Dr. Liwanpo pursues relevant continuing education that focuses on animal-assisted interventions, and ensures that Fezzik receives specialized training tailored for a private practice setting. Additionally, his well-being as a therapy dog will be respected in conjunction with the suitability of his involvement in sessions for each patient.
For those who are comfortable with allowing him to participate, Fezzik will join in as a co-therapist if appropriate for treatment, or as an optional companion during in-person sessions. You may even catch a glimpse of him during a telehealth session!
